Meteora, oh my goodness! It's a breathtaking fairytale landscape that I still can't wrap my head around. The fact that such a place exists is absolutely mind-blowing.

It's truly unbelievable that back in 1336, they constructed structures nearly 550 meters (1,800 feet) up in the air. Picture this: one daring soul scaling to the summit, dropping a rope, and hauling up the rest of the crew. The audacity and ingenuity of that feat are mind-boggling!

Tips

Dress Respectfully: Women should wear a skirt (long pants are not allowed) that covers the knees or pack a scarf just in case. If you forget, you can grab one at the entrance for about 3 euros.

Bring Cash: Entrance to each monastery is 3 euros, and cash is also handy for snacks and souvenirs. Tickets are good all day, and entrance is free for Greek citizens.

Wear Comfortable Shoes: There are lots of stairs, so good walking shoes are essential.

Sun Protection: Bring sunscreen and a hat—the Greek sun is no joke.

Stay Hydrated: Bring water, especially in the summer. Waiting in line isn’t the time to be thirsty.

Men's Dress Code: Long pants are required. Zip-off pants or shorts underneath are a good idea for flexibility.

Pack Snacks: Food options are limited, so a snack can come in handy.

Cover Your Shoulders: No sleeveless shirts allowed for either men or women.
